Crazy for You begins
in NYC, where a banking tycoon's son, Bobby Childs, is much more interested in
dancing than banking. Bobby's mother demands that he deliver a
foreclosure notice to the Gaiety Theatre in Deadrock,
Nevada.
Upon his arrival, Bobby discovers the girl of his dreams, Polly, and the idea
that the theatre can be saved - by putting on a show! Alas, Polly
discovers that Bobby is a representative of the bank, and all is not well -
until Bobby comes up with a crazy plan to disguise himself as a Broadway
producer, Bela Zangler.
That way, he can save the theatre and possibly win Polly's affection.
Bobby's plan works at first, when his friends, Follies Girls from Zangler's review, arrive in Deadrock
to help him. Problems arise when Zangler himself
arrives and Bobby is stuck in a series of mistaken identities and zany
miscommunications. With such beloved Gershwin classics as "I Got
Rhythm", "Someone to Watch Over Me", and "Embraceable
You", Crazy for You provides the whole family with spectacular dance,
endearing characters, and a totally toe-tapping, "embraceable
evening" that will leave audiences whistling tunes long after the curtain
goes down!
